Large displayAt the Surugadai estate of Mr. Koyata Iwasaki, a kendojo* was constructed and Kendo practicing began.
August, 1918
Large displayThe new Marunouchi Dojo* was constructed as the Bujutsu* group of the Mitsubishi Club at the site of the present Yaesu building at Marunouchi and Judo and Kendo practicing began there.
(*) Bujutsu means martial art.
December, 1925
Due to the construction of the Yaesu Building, the Dojo* was removed to the expansion site of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. (present site of the Tokyo Building)
June, 1930
As the abovementioned Dojo* had not enough space, it was renovated with a concrete structure temporary Dojo*.
June, 1934
Due to the expansion of the Mitsubishi Bank building, a temporary Dojo* was set up inside the Higashi No.9 Building in front of the Chuo-Tei Central Branch.
April, 1935
Large displayThe Mitsubishi Club was newly set up inside the No. 13 Building (area 660 square meter, steel reinforced concrete structure, 3 floors), and a Judojo* and a Kendojo* were established on the 2nd floor.
(*) Judojo means Judo practicing facility.
October, 1944
As the Great East Asian War (World War II) intensified, the practicing was suspended.
April, 1958
Judo and Kendo practicing resumed after a large scale renovation was made to the building.
December, 1960
The demolition of the Mitsubishi Club No.13 building commenced.
March, 1961
On the rooftop of the Mitsubishi Main Building, a temporary Dojo* was built and Judo and Kendo practicing began.
April, 1971
Due to the expansion and renovation of the Main Building, the Dojo* was closed and demolished.
May, 1971
Kendo practicing alone began at the Dojo* of the Marunouchi Fire Department.
October, 1971
Due to the renovation of the Fire Department Dojo*, the practicing ceased.
November, 1971
Kendo only started the practicing at the Dojo* of The Dai-ichi Mutual Life Insurance Company.
July, 1972
Large displayA new Dojo* was completed at the Tokyo Building and the practicing restarted.
March, 2003
Due to the renovation of the Tokyo Building, the Dojo* was closed.
May, 2003
The new Dojo* “Shiseikan Dojo*” was completed at Sugamo in Tokyo.

(*) As the beginning of the Mitsubishi Budokai* is considered to be 1912, when the then President Mr. Koyata Iwasaki constructed a Kendojo* and started Kendo practicing at his Surugadai estate, the centennial of the Mitsubishi Budokai* will be in 2012.
(*) Martial arts were prohibited in Japan after the war and restarted in 1953. Therefore, shortly after then, in 1956, the first All Mitsubishi Budo* Meeting was held. In 2006, the 50th memorial Meeting was held at the Nippon Budokan.
